CI & The Scouting Method

Civic Engineering and Scouting Method are closely related.

My Experience

I have had the chance to experiment Scouting as a Boy (in the 90s of last century) and as a Master. Both experiences have been crucial for the definition of my character (either in positive and negative aspects). These years have left me a number of friends that are still here. I have to say that I care more for the quality than for the number of these relationships, that still resists very well against time. It’s been no bed of roses. I have got to know persons with whom I don’t want to have nothing to do with, for severaal reasons; on the other hand I cannot pretend to have just good friends, or success experiences. For these reasons Scouting – both as a Boy and as a Master – is somthing extraordinary to live.

What I gained from this experience is, at first, the possiblity to overcome a very shy and introversal character, the maniac tendency towards unreachable perfection, and the awareness that “Nothing is impossible” for the Good Will People.

Key Elements

Civic Engineering takes many elements from the Scouting Method. This is targeted to the education of kids, boys and girls, young people, and has been developed through more than 100 years thanks to the expertise of Scout Masters from every place of the World.

There are many elements of the Scouting Method that are particularly relevant for any project of Civic Engineering: from the Law to the Promise and much more. In order to deepen the knowledge of the Scouting Method I strongly recommend to refer to the books of Sir Robert Baden Powell.
